Mean Tide Level data is sometimes needed to estimate the tide level desired to launch or land at beaches with tide flats. Unfortunately many pocket sized tide tables don't include this data. While the daily tide data in your tide table books are only good for the year, constants such as the mean tide level are the same year after year.

We suggest looking at NOAA's list of mean tides, printing out this supplemental data, and tucking it into your tide book. The link provided goes right to mean tides for Oregon and Washington. Data is available on the same page for other parts of the United States. If you are interested in the mean tide for another area, do a web search for "mean tide" and your location.
